Samir Hammoud

Chairman, Banking Control Commission

Mr. Hammoud is currently the Chairman of the Banking Control Commission of Lebanon (BCCL), and member of the Special Investigation Committee (SIC) at the Central Bank of Lebanon.


From 1974 to 2015 Mr. Hammoud was employed as a banker in several Lebanese and regional banks, namely Rif Bank, Bank of Beirut & Arab Countries, Commercial Bank of Kuwait – Kuwait, BankMed, and Chairman/General Manager of Future TV, while being employed with BankMed.


Also he has a long academic career, as he taught in Haigazian, AUB, LAU and USJ between 1981 and 1995. Mr. Hammoud is a regular speaker in seminars held in Lebanon and in the Arab World. He delivered talks at the Union of Arab Banks, The Association of Lebanese Banks and at the Institute of Banking Studies. He published a number of studies and articles in Lebanese newspapers and magazines related to monetary, financial and banking issues while publishing a book entitled “Credit Analysis”, in 1993.


Mr. Hammoud holds a BBA from Haigazian College (1978), an MBA from American University of Beirut (1981) and a B.A. in Law from the Lebanese University (2000).


Mr. Hammoud was also appointed by the Council of Ministers as Committee member for restructuring Bank Euromed in 1992. He was a member in the Association of Banks in Lebanon, Banking Studies Committee, from 1993 till March 2015.
