CMA Vice Chairman Mr. Firas Saffiedine spoke of the importance of the conference in Lebanon “which builds on an economic roadmap that reflects the international community’s commitment to it [Lebanon] through the CEDRE conference. This is an opportunity for securities markets.” He then added: “The time has come to move towards a more balanced financial system, especially following the increase in debt financing through banks and the difficulty of companies getting the capital they need.”
Saffiedine considered the conference “an opportunity to discuss experiences and to transform the market from a bank-based market to a capital-based market.”
